What’s so great about hemp products?
This word has grown in popularity over the years and there is a good reason for it. Hemp products can range from clothing to oils. There are even hemp bed sheets. Most importantly, and our focus, are the hemp dog toys and treats. Before we discuss that, let’s get into what exactly is hemp.
What is hemp?
Hemp comes from the Cannabis family. Scientifically, hemp doesn’t differ from cannabis at all actually. According to the law though, hemp is classified as a plant that contains less than 0.3% THC content. When most people think about THC, they think of marijuana which is the plant used for getting high due to the increased levels of THC. As for hemp, the incredibly low amounts of THC means it is nearly impossible to feel any of those effects, so you don’t have to worry about your dog trippin out. Because of this, the hemp plant is safe for all ages and animals. If you are looking to give your dog psychoactive effects, hemp will not provide that, but animal control may have some recommendations.
Hemp and bamboo are two of the fastest growing plants in the world. This means it is extremely easy to grow and sustain, only taking 3-4 months to mature. This hemp plant is then cultivated for its fibers and can be used in thousands of different products. Because it is an all natural plant, all the products are environmentally safe and don’t require any harsh or harmful processing, such as cotton bleaching. There are also no toxic chemicals or additives to the hemp. Hemp is one of the most sustainable materials on the market and leaves minimal to no carbon footprint.
What are the benefits of hemp?
There are many benefits of hemp! It is highly renewable and doesn’t require any pesticides or weed killers in order to grow, so it is safe and non-toxic for dogs. Since hemp is a complete protein source plant, it contains all nine of the essential amino acids. As a pill, oil, or dog treat, a dog, it can help with digestive, weight, and immune issues. Below is a list of proven benefits:
- Reducing seizures
- Reducing nausea symptoms
- Improve skin and coat conditions
- Improve immune system response and cardiovascular functions
- Reduces inflammation
- Reduces anxiety
- Increase appetite
This is just a few, as there are many more benefits. When the hemp is turned into a dog toy there are other benefits that include:
- Naturally digestible
- Durable
- Resistant to bacteria and mold
- Pesticide-free
Why choose hemp over plastic or cotton?
If you haven't caught on yet, hemp is way more beneficial than other materials. It is good for your dog and for the environment, two things that should be important to dog owners.
Hemp toys are quickly rising in popularity as more and more people learn about the benefits. To spice up the looks of the toys, all natural dyes can be added to make them more fun and companies are starting to do this to create a greater appeal.

Very interesting info about hemp! Because it’s ease of growth, I’m going to give it a shot in my yard and attempt to use it as bedding for puppies! Maybe our cat will benefit from the hemp as well!
Thanks for sharing – I’m ordering hemp products now!
